Our PDF compressor offers three honest modes. Lossless optimizes object streams, subsets embedded fonts to only the characters used, and strips duplicated data — text stays selectable, links and form fields keep working, and nothing visible changes. Balanced and Maximum rebuild each page as an optimized image, which produces much smaller files on scans and image-heavy documents but flattens text and forms. If an attempted result ends up larger than the original, the tool keeps the original bytes instead.
Typical results: text-heavy PDFs (reports, invoices, contracts) shrink 40–60%, mixed documents 20–40%, and image-only scans 10–30%. A 20MB PDF usually lands at 3–5MB with Balanced mode.

Because compression runs in your browser, very large files depend on your device's available memory — close other heavy tabs if a big document stalls.
